My Movies: The Black Cauldron

Young assistant pig keeper Tarin must take an oracular pig into hiding after it is discovered an evil horned king wants to use him to find the powerful Black Cauldron

This is number 25 in the series of Disney animated movies.

No doubt scenes of skeletons and the like throughout the move is what earned it a PG rating.  It is not your typical disney animation as there are absoloutely no songs in it.

It is worth a viewing for it’s high quality animation, however it is also easily forgettable as it isn’t overly humerous or spectacular.

My movies: The Aristocats

When man-servant Edgar hears that he will only inherit his employer’s wealth after her cats have died, he comes up with a plan to get rid of them.

By today’s standards, it wouldn’t be all that great animation wise, however, back in the 1970s when it came out first I am sure it was ahead of it’s time. It wasn’t as memorable as the likes of 101 Dalmatians, which incidentally came out on DVD last week.

My Movies: The Animatrix

A collection of nine animated features relating to the Matrix series of movies.

Japanese anime is not my thing, could never get into it.

Saw the second part of the short called “The Second Renaissance” on television once and wished to know what this whole Animatrix thing was about.  So I bought this.

It is for the Matrix fans.  Whilst I enjoyed the original films, and indeed have them, the only shorts in this I could watch were the two “Second Renaissance”  films and “Beyond.”

My Movies: Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland

During a boring history lesson, Alice finds herself falling into astrange world with unusual creatures, and where the normal becomes abnormal.

I am trying to collect all 44 of the Disney animations. This is number 13 in the series, which was originally released in 1951.

A number of the Disney animations of this time, while high in visual quality, did tend to have somewhat psychedelic properties to it. One would wonder it the person who directed it was under the influence of something.

Not the best of Disney that I have. It is a little bit “out there” for my taste, nonetheless it is nice to have as part of my growing collection.

This will be the last of my movie collection I will be doing for a couple of days while I write other stuff.
